Upgrade StorageLinking items in MyLibrary and a group library?

I understand that MyLibrary and group libraries have been conceived as distinct repositories.
From https://www.zotero.org/support/groups :
- "Group Libraries are separate from your personal My Library, so you can also use Zotero groups as a way to keep separate libraries within one Zotero profile."
- "Note that group libraries are wholly separate from My Library. Any items dragged into them are separate copies and changes to the items will not be reflected in your own copy of the item until you drag it back into My Library."
I have a use case where I feel this as a limitation.
The items, many of them, are used sometimes in a collaboration (hence from a group library), but also in personal projects along with items not in the collaboration (hence from MyLibrary). In this context,
1. I keep searching for the items in either library which is cumbersome
2. I could replicate all of the items, but the group library is very large leading to a large duplicate storage and to not keeping track of changes and annotations (as per the help file).
Could any kind of item pointer across libraries help with this case?
Any suggestions on how to manage the case?
