The direct download tarball of Zotero Beta 8 for Linux AArch64 does not register itself as a handler for the zotero:// URI scheme in KDE Plasma environments. This results in KDE being unable to launch the KIO worker when a zotero:// link is activated, showing the error: "Unable to create KIO worker. Unknown protocol 'zotero'".

Steps to Reproduce
On a KDE Plasma system (tested on Fedora Asahi Linux, AArch64), download the Zotero tarball from the official website.
Extract the tarball to a directory.
Run the zotero executable.
Attempt to open a zotero:// link from a browser or other application.
Expected Result: Zotero opens and handles the link.
Actual Result: KDE displays an error: "Unable to create KIO worker. Unknown protocol 'zotero'".

Environment
Zotero Version: 8.0-beta.17+0748b0975 (from the direct download tarball)
OS: Fedora Asahi Linux (KDE Plasma)
Architecture: AArch64

Because those aren't the installation steps. You have to actually install the desktop file if you want URL handling:
