Upgrade StorageQuestions about converting linked to stored files
I am considering using "Convert linked files to stored files" to move all of my linked attachments to my Zotero library. I have questions:
- Will this leave the original documents in place, and move a copy to the Zotero library? (This would be my preference.) Or are the originals moved?
- What if converting everything exceeds my current storage Zotero storage limit? I don't mind upgrading, but I don't want to pay for more than I need. Is there a grace period? If not, what happens to the excess files?
If I want to move files over individually or in small batches, what are my options? The only way I can find to do this is by reattaching the files and trashing the linked version. It's a little labor intensive. Am I missing a menu option somewhere?

As soon as file syncing is turned ON, all files in local storage will begin uploading to Zotero servers (not just PDFs, also snapshots etc). If you go over your online file storage quota (300 mb free), uploading of those files will stop immediately (item metadata will still upload though - data syncing is free/unlimited). The "excess" files will remain on your local computer (you can always store as much as you want locally). If you later upgrade your file storage quota, the remaining files will begin to upload, up to your new quota.

You can estimate roughly how much space you will need online by adding the current size of files in your Zotero\storage hierarchy to that of your linked files folder.
Your last para is a little unclear. You move *selected* items' linked files via Tools\Manage Attachments\Convert Linked Files to Stored Files, as you mentioned in your first para (so "reattaching" files or "trashing" linked files doesn't really make sense).
It will take some time, so if you have a large library it's best to do it in manageable chunks, eg select all the "A" titles, convert them, followed by all the "B's", etc.
