Zotero on ChromeOS Linux not showing prompts
The corresponding Debug ID for this issue is D974510327.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Zotero
2. Click any button that opens a prompt (e. g. Update, About, Unlink Account, Delete something)
Expected behaviour: Prompt shows up in a new window as intended
Real behaviour: A contentless window opens which will stay open until manually closed. I've waited several minutes at one point before closing it.
Troubleshooting:
- Uninstalled Zotero and installed the latest version
- apt upgrade in general
- restart the device
- updated to Zotero 8 beta
I've had this issue ever since I started using Zotero on my Chromebook about 6 months ago. It never really bothered me before. Now it stopped me from syncing my files until a kind user below pointed out I could try clicking Enter, which worked. So the prompts contents are there - they just don't show up.
Edit: Solved! I can just extend the windows borders so I can actually see their content.

Upgrade Storage
This sounds like some sort of broader display issue, not anything to do with syncing specifically, so you might want to try the Zotero 8 beta.
If you don't have local changes or files you need to upload, you can also just move your existing Zotero data directory out of the way (and keep it temporarily as a backup), restart Zotero and let it create a new data directory, and sync to pull down all your data.
But obviously you should fix the display issue so that you can see prompts in general.
Updating to the Zotero 8 beta unfortunately doesn't fix the display issue. Thanks for the idea tho. Maybe I should open another discussion specifically on that issue? I'll see if I can rename this thread first, tho.
