append PMCID

I am using the APA style and need to add the PMID or PMCID number to the end of each reference in the bibliography. I've been reading the forums and FAQs and know that I need to I add <text variable="note"/> to the CSL file. It show up but I can't get a space or delimiter to show before the PMID and therefore it looks like it is part of the last entry (e.g., looks like it is part of the DOI number). How can I add a space or is there another way to get the PMID number included in the bibliography?
