Zotero loading bar freezes when adding new citation

Anytime I try to add a new citation on my word doc in Mac, the loading bar freezes. Any help is greatly appreciated!

How large is the Word doc? Does it happen in a new document? If not, how long have you waited?

not large, 5 pages with 11 citations (34KB). It happens in a new document. I've waited for a few minutes, at least 5 before giving up.

Is this a new problem?

Does it help if you close all your reader tabs?

yes happened just yesterday. Everything was working fine until it suddenly stopped. I don't think I have any reader tabs open but I'm not entirely sure what those are

Can you provide a Debug ID for reproducing this in a new, empty document?

D985525497, ID for new doc. Also one other thing I should mention. I can add citations for old sources. However, when I add a new source and then try to cite that, it freezes.

Well, wait, what do you mean by that? There's not really such a thing as an "old" source and a "new" source in Zotero. If you restart Zotero, does it become an "old" source that can be cited?

Also, what exactly happens on screen when it freezes? Can you take a screenshot, or send a screen recording to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread?

Can you provide another Debug ID for it working for a given citation?

I mean that in reference to yesterday. Ever since yesterday, every source I add, I cannot cite. However, every source I added before yesterday I can cite. But this seems to only happen to my original word doc. If I create a new word doc, I cannot cite anything, regardless of whether or not I added the source before or after yesterday.
