Loading stalls on Mac

When I open Zotero for the first time, everything works fine. But if Zotero is already running and I try to open the app it stalls on "Loading items ..." I've only had this problem after installing the most recent version of Zotero---it used to work fine.
  • Do you mean if you've closed the main window and then click the Zotero icon in the Dock?

    Can you provide a Debug ID for reproducing that?
  • Yes, I mean if I've closed the main window and then click the Zotero icon in the Dock. If I quit Zotero and then open it, it works fine. My workflow has become to always quit before opening in the Dock.

    I turned on debug logging, closed Zotero, and then reopened the icon from the Dock without quitting, and the database failed to load as usual. I then asked it to submit the log. The debug id it gave me is:
    Submitted with Debug ID D1571500836.
