Auto-sync periodicity control

When I am simultaneously adding references in Firefox and writing and citing in OpenOffice, synchronization seems to crash Firefox at worst and at best cause significant slow-down. Turning off auto-sync is OK, but ideally I would be able to set the synchronization period.
Then I wouldn't have to remember about synchronizing whenever I leave home or work.

    Syncing should not slow down your computer unless you're constantly saving a very large number of items. It auto-syncs (roughly) within 15 seconds of a change, and generally speaking that should be very little data. Are you sure the syncs are actually going through?

    I have since (i.e. in last couple of hours) determined that synchronization wasn't the issue.
