I am using Zotero 7.0.5 and no plugins are able to be installed. Even ones that specify they are compatible with Zotero 7 all say incompatible. E.g. The add-on "Better Notes for Zotero" could not be installed. It may be incompatible with this version of Zotero.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Zotero, and many different plugins, including ones in the plugins directory

(You have Zotero 7.0.24, not 7.0.5.)

You may be trying to install the beta version of Better Notes, which only works with the Zotero 8 beta. You need the stable version for Zotero 7.

Unfortunately the stable version does not work either. I am using Zotero launched from AppsAnywhere, as this laptop has restricted installation. (Which is where I got 7.0.5 from). Could this be a reason no plugins are allowed?

We can't help with unofficial versions, sorry.

Note that you can run the official ZIP version of Zotero without running the installer, and you can even use the installer and have it install into a user directory (if you decline when it asks for admin privileges).

Ah amazing! I downloaded the zip version and am now able to add plugins. Thank you for your help, that's a huge relief
