Missing preference in Zotero Mac and Word plugin

I am new to Mac. Could anyone advise - My Zotero doesn't have preferences and Word does not have a Zotero menu bar. Thank you.

Zotero settings are in the same place as all other Mac apps: the application menu ("Zotero") → "Settings".
