zotero storage ?

Dear zotero forums friends

Hope all is well with you sweethearts!!

I recently reached the maximum 300mb of my zotero storage capacity and i have a stupid question but I hope you can help me

All i need zotero for is to let me save all citations from my schoolwork so that I can easily use the MS word plugin to then generate my bibliographies. I only use 1 computer for this which has 1TB of storage. Do you think that I can still achieve this if I turn off the zotero sync storage? Since I don’t need to use it on multiple computers? if i turn the zotero cloud or whatever off, will it solve my storage issue and will I lose all my stuff?

If it won't work if i turn it off, do you have any tips for solutions? I read online that it is possible to use institutional onedrive storage instead of Zotero’s webDAV server , or your own webdav server but i dont know how to do that

many thanks for reading !!
  • If you only use 1 computer, you can disable Zorero file sync without any loss of functionality (and you won't lose anything).
Be extra sure to have good backups, though, since you obviously won't be able to rely on Zorero file sync for that
  • Disable file sync, but keep your data sync on. That's infinitely free. If you lose your computer and your files, you will still have your library on Zotero's servers and you can down-sync your entire library (sans attachments). The data is what you use for citing in your word processor, not file attachments.

(And do keep good backups of your computer, as adamsmith said, if you want to also have your file attachments backed up.)
