Zotero 7 gets stuck in circle in Word (Mac)

Hello,
I upgraded to Zotero 7 (mac) and then my integration with Word stopped working. The plugin seems fine (I deleted the .dotm file and reinstalled per instructions various times), Zotero opens and the viewer to type the reference opens ok. However, after I type the keyword for the reference, Zotero gets stuck with a spinning circle on the right. The refereneces never show up, so I can't chose them or add them.
I would appreciate your help! I'm working on a deadline.

Does it work in a new, empty document? How long have you waited in this document?

Can you provide a Debug ID for Zotero startup through reproducing this, using the "Restart with Logging Enabled…" option?

No, it does not work in an empty document. I waited a few minutes (in Zotero 6 it takes less than a second).

Unfortunately, I cannot provide the debug ID, as I uninstalled zotero7 and re-installed Zotero 6, which works perfectly well. I am on a tight deadline and just needed a quick solution. I can provide the debug ID after I submit.
