Zotero for Android search -- doesn't bring up the same results as Zotero computer app

Hi folks, this seems weird. I have a Zotero collection in which I keep citations of all the papers I've co-authored. I searched in that collection in Zotero for Android for a co-author's name, and get 2 results. I searched in that collection in Zotero on my PC for the same name (title, creator, year), and I get 5 results.
Any idea what is going on?

  • Any chance you have "Show Items from Subcollections" turned on your PC selected (which is under View pull-down menu on a Mac, don't know about Win)? That would show the matching results also in a subcollection, so you could get more hits.

The default is not to show them, and on my Android Zotero app, that appears to be the case.
  • Hmm, all five items are in a subcollection, the subcollection I was searching in both devices. So I don't think that's the issue.
(but I'm glad you mentioned that feature, because I didn't know about it, and it will make life simpler -- right now I have a collection for resume updates, with subcollections for publications and interim research products and conference-ish things, and remembering how I categorized something isn't always easy!)
  • Subcollections can have subcollections, too. And items can exist in multiple (sub)collections, including both parent and child subcollections. (So, relying on the collections system for organizing may not be enough, and there comes in tags).

Assuming that your Android app is fully synced, I am not sure what the source of your problem is. Someone else may have another idea.
  • Do all the items show up in that collection on Android?
