You don't say whether you've used Zotero previously on this computer or what you did before his occurred, but generally this happens after transferring data from another computer (usually without using Migration Assistant, though occasionally we see glitches there too). This can usually be fixed using File → Get Info in Finder. Zotero needs read and write permission for the "Zotero" folder and and folders and files within it.
