Zotero could not start

edited 5 days ago
In a new computer, after the zotero installed, during the start it prompted
getOtherAppProfilesDir@chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/profile.js:105:36init@chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/dataDirectory.js:241:42

How to start zotero?
  • After the folder 'zotero' in %appdata% was removed, it could start, thanks
  • Did you transfer data from another computer?
  • Yes, I transfered data using zotero sync to a new computer

No, I mean other data. %appdata%\Zotero stores the Zotero profile and wouldn't have anything to do with Zotero sync. Did you transfer AppData files from another computer?

But I'm also not sure what you mean. When exactly did this occur? If you couldn't open Zotero on the new computer because of this error, you wouldn't have been able to use Zotero sync.
  • sorry, after I deleted the %appdata%\Zotero, zotero could start, then the data were transferred by zotero sync.

Then I will install the plugins
  • Right, so I'm asking if you possibly transferred the "%appdata%\Zotero" folder from your other computer. Obviously a new empty "Zotero" AppData folder shouldn't cause problems.
  • Yes, it's weird, it is completely a new machine, no data were copied. I remembered 'START D:\Zotero8_win-x64\zotero.exe -profile E:\ex\profile' was run, but 'E:\ex\profile' was not exist
  • Wait, you're saying you ran with a custom -profile flag? How does that path relate to your %appdata%?
  • I ran zotero with -profile first, it could not start, then I double clicked the zotero.exe in D:\Zotero8_win-x64\, both prompted me getOtherAppProfilesDir@chrome:...., after %appdata%\Zotero was removed, now it is normal
