entry numbers in Vancouver/IEEE bibliography with wrong alignment

edited 9 days ago
Hello,

I'm generating a bibliography using the stock Vancouver style (Edit menu -> Copy bibliography), and then pasting it in a word processor.

The enumeration for the references ends up on a line of its own, aligned right, which is obviously wrong:

This happens with Vancouver and IEEE styles, in all the word processors I tried (MS Word online, GoogleDocs, and LibreOffice).

This happens with Zotero 7.0.24 for linux, and also with the web version of Zotero.

Is there something I can do to fix the issue?

thanks,

This works when using the Word processor add-on or saving to RTF and opening, but the interpretation of HTML in the clipboard (which is what Zotero uses for copying items to the clipboard) by word processors is wonky when it comes to alignment like this, so the clipboard doesn't work well for numeric styles.
  • thanks, @adamsmith, I can confirm your suggestion works.

However, I can't always work in places/setups with zotero properly configured, and end up depending on the copy/paste functionality.

what could be done to make copy/paste work properly with numeric styles?
  • to be fair, I am quite aware of the silliness of copying a IEEE bibliography, since the order of entries depends on the order in which they appear in the document.

But still, it would be handy to be able to copy all of the entries, properly formatted (italics, etc.), and then reorganize them by hand ...
