Different citation styles on one page

Hi all,

is it possible to use two different citation styles on one page by using Zotero and the MS Word Plugin?

Eg.:
Some nice text here.[1] And some special text here.[2] Followed by some other text. And another cite again.[3]
-------

Many thanks in advance for your help...
  • This looks like a special form of ibid in a single style, rather than the mixing of two entirely separate styles. If that's a correct reading of your example, then yes, you can design a style that will do this.
  • Hi,

thanks for your answer, fbennett. You´re right. The styles are similar. I simplified them for my post, but they are also similar in reality. Simplified it´s someting like:

    Author-Last, Author-First; Jounal-Name: Year; Pages
    Auther-Last, Author-First; Year; Pages
... but the use will be on one (!) page. The second version has to be choosen, if the same book (or journal, or ...) has already been used in the current document.

What is this "ibid" thing? How would it look like if I want to choose the differnt styles in my word Plugin?

    Thanks in advance ...
  • The ibid thing is automatic; Zotero's citation processor tracks the position of each cite in your document, and when a reference has been used before, a citation style definition (the CSL style) can specify a different form. The rules are a little complicated, but cover all styles.

Read this to get an idea of what CSL is all about, and how to work with the language: http://www.zotero.org/support/dev/creating_citation_styles

Read this for some info on the ibid thing, etc: http://www.yorku.ca/igreene/citgd.htm

It sounds like you're starting out to build a rather novel style from scratch, so for building the actual style file, I think you'll be on your own.
  • Thanks for your assistance ...
