Implementing Zotero on Mac Google Doc

The red bar coming up when I try insert a citation has no white bar in which to type, it is only a plain red bar. Can anyone help me figure this out? I am brand new to this so it might be me, but I watched some videos on how to use it and I think this is more than a 'me' problem.

    Make sure the document preferences or citation dialog isn't just appearing behind your other windows. That's the most likely thing here.

    If you're sure it's not that, we would want a Debug ID for reproducing this after restarting Zotero.
