I can’t add new items with DOIs (identifiers) - case #478121974

When I insert identifiers into the “Add item(s) by identifier” box, I get the following message:

Lookup Failed
Zotero could not find a record for the specified identifier. Please verify the identifier and try again.

I’ve searched for articles with the DOI’s that failed in Zotero and can access them without any issues. This has happened occasionally in the past, but this function in Zotero is not working for any DOI.

    Please provide an example DOI.

    Edit: Crossref is experiencing performance issues that could explain the failures.

    There are still issues with the Crossref API: https://status.crossref.org/?utm_source=embed

    In Crossref, this DOI doesn't give any metadata, for example.

    Edit: I missed the fact it is a recent paper, as pointed out by dstillman, so my comment is off for this specific case.

    Specifically, as explained there, some recently added DOIs haven't been getting indexed by Crossref, so metadata isn't available yet. (That article is from a week ago. It's not "any" DOI from Science.)
