Can the preferred color in "select area" be customized?

The current preferred color is yellow, and I would like to customize it to blue or another color.
I have searched in the "config editor" using "select area," but I couldn't find this setting.

    There's not really a "preferred color", and this isn't specific to ink annotations ("Select Area"). There's just a hard-coded order of colors that's the same for all annotation types, and yellow is the first color in the list, so it's what gets selected when you first select the tool. After that, it will remember the last-used color for that tool within a given document as long as that tab stays open.

    It doesn't currently remember the color across tabs or across restarts, but fixing that is planned.
