Meta Data for PDFs

When I download a PDF and bring it into my library using the Link to File option, I always alt click on it to Retrieve Meta Data. When this fails to find Meta Data, I require the ability to manually enter the Meta Data. This feature is not available.

The work around is to Link to a Document, cut and paste all the Meta Data on screen into the document and then attach the file to the document record just created. A lengthy and time consuming process.

Can you enable the document feature Meta Data fields with the Link to File/PDF option?

    Well - "time-consuming" might be a bit exaggerated considering there is just one (or if you want to count it as two) step(s) more - i.e. create a new item and attach the pdf.

    What's been planned for a while is to automatically attach the pdf to an empty item when retrieve metadata fails - not sure when that will happen, but I imagine soonish.
