Perhaps I might add to this discussion (if that's how it is done). Chrome extension on my lc (not mac) does nothing. I have followed a long discussion, disabling other extensions, removing and reinstalling Chrome extension. An older video noted one needed to authorize save to zotero.org. But mine doesn't have that button under options. It only reads "Zotero Connector is not currently authorized to save items to zotero.org. You will be prompted for authorization if you try to save items while Zotero is not open." With not option for authorizing. Connector for Firefox works fine.
You don't need to authorize the connector (on any browser) for regular use. That message means what it says: you will get prompted when it's needed, which isn't typically the case: basically the only scenario in which you want/need to save to zotero.org is if you're on a machine where you cannot install Zotero Desktop.
If the extension doesn't work, you'd have to say more about how it doesn't work -- do you not see a button, does the button not to anything, does the button throw errors, etc. Troubleshooting isn't the same for all scenarios.
