Bibilography lists my texts as "PDF"

Hello, I'm very new to using Zotero so hopefully this is a simple question

I am using zotero with word. When I go to insert a biliography, some of my papers appear correctly formated, and some just say "PDF" rather than listing the reference.

I have imported the metadata, and the papers (titles, author names, dates etc) display correctly in zotero itself. I'll show this below in case I've somehow created my library incorrectly.

Everything else seem to be working fine, it's only creating the bibliography that isn't working

Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong here? Thank you!

  • Can you show exactly how you're choosing the item for citing, and what you're getting in the document? "PDF" would be the attachment title.
  • Hey there, I'm just pickin the PDF paper up and putting it in the library, then clicking add metadata? I'm sorry if that doesn't answer the question. Am I supposed to manually write all the information in somewhere? I'm very confused.
  • When I am adding a citation, I am clicking "add/edit citation" then choosing it, and the superscript number seems to insert correctly. But when I click "add/edit biliography" I just get what I am seeing in this attachment.

  • What citation style are you using in the document?
  • I'm using AMA/Vancouver style
  • If it helps, I've just tried swapping to another style (NZVJ), and now my in text citations become listed as "(anon, date unknown)"
  • Can you provide a screenshot of you selecting an item in the citation dialog?
