Scholaread

I've spent the entire day just trying to install and get started with Zotero, and I'm already super-frustrated. I'm stuck trying to get Zotero as a Microsoft Word add-in -- that option doesn't seem to exist, it only gives me Scholaread (which I've never used or installed). What am I doing wrong? Is it something deep in the bowels of my Macbook?
  • Can you share some screenshots of what you're referring to?

I am using this set of instructions to install everything and learn to use this app.
When I try to reinstall Microsoft Word add-in, nothing happens. Now I can't even get Scholaread to show up, so I don't have a screenshot to share. I'm about to give up.
  • Scholaread is a third-party tool that we don't have anything to do with. The only thing we know about it is that it hijacks Zotero's PDF reader setting to set itself as the PDF reader, and in recent versions we put in a warning for that and a block to prevent it. If you can't show us what you were referring to there, that's not something we could say any more about.

Zotero installs the Word plugin automatically. If you're not seeing it, see Zotero Toolbar Doesn't Appear and the platform-specific steps linked from there, and if you're still having trouble, let us know exactly what you tried, in your own words, and what happened at each step.
