Google Docs access to Zotero
Hi all,
Recently, our Google Workspace admins have been clamping down on third party apps. Previously they allowed all unconfigured third-party apps, while now they have switched to “Allow users to access thirds-party apps that only require basic info needed for Sign in with Google”. This means that apps that are unconfigured will only get my basic user info, not access to Google Drive for example.
They’re trying to help me configure the Zotero Google Docs Integration, however they are unable to find the app under the list of third-party apps. They can see the app making the request and being denied in their Oauth logs, but when they search for either the same application name or application ID under “Manage app access”, the app doesn’t show up, unlike all the other unconfigured apps. I am wondering if someone has any suggestions? Is there some layer in between for example that we need to look for instead (Zotero Connector?)? Appreciate all possible help!

Our admins solved this by going to the Google Workspace admin console, navigating to Security - Access and data control - API controls. They then selected “Manage app access”, then “Configure new app”, searched for Zotero and set it up with the correct scopes. That solved it.
