External file properties overwritten
On Windows 11, Zotero 7.0.16 (64-bit), I dragged some PDFs to the library for import. It seems that the files were copied to storage as expected, but renamed to a truncated format, e.g. "...\storage\CHFLJYZG\THECAM~2.PDF"
I wouldn't mind it much if the original files were preserved. Instead, some of the files, in the downloads folder, were overwritten with file titles that match the truncated form, "...\Downloads\THINKB~1\POETIC~1\THECAM~2.PDF". Those are the file title and location properties, while the file-system have the filename and folder still unchanged in downloads, (bur renamed in Zotero storage).
I don't currently have zotmoov or any other renaming agent, which I disabled. The built-in one is disabled since I noticed similar renaming, in storage or linked attachments, that I couldn't figure the cause of. This is the first time that it overwrites in a non-Zotero folder. Possibly it does coincide also with me recently turning on auto-sync. Is it some sort of conflict?

adamsmithCan you replicate this? Zotero doesn't have any code that would rename the original file it copies, so I don't see how this could possibly be Zotero. It seems much more likely that the original file was (for whatever reason) renamed first through some process unrelated to Zotero.

danny laymanYes, this happens with newly added files as well. Sometimes affecting the file title property, sometimes the filename, sometimes none. It doesn't happen in files that fail to auto-create a parent item.

danny laymanI remember now that my webdav storage was almost full. Can the server be at fault if it got there?
