Changing a subgroup into a group

Is there any way to change a subgroup into a group?

Or do I have to create the group, copy all items from the subgroup into the group and delete the subgroup? As I do have several level of subgroups in the subgroup I would like to change into a group, this would be quite long to do.
  • I assume by “group” you mean “collection”.

You can click and drag the subcollection icon between rows in your collection tree until you see a blue line between collections. Then release and it will be a top-level collection.

This does not work for me on Windows or Ubuntu.
You can convert a subcollection into a top-level collection by dragging it out of the collection and dropping it into empty space in the left Zotero pane.

This also does not work for me.

You can drag and drop the subcollection to the target collection, or to the library to make it a top-level collection.
You can also use the right-click menu on the subcollection to move or copy it to another collection or library.
  • Yeah, right-click --> Move to seems like the most convenient option here (drag&drop also doesn't work for me on the Windows beta)
  • I think we removed that to avoid accidental moves. You can still drag to the library root, which is more explicit.
