Cannot save citations from Pubmed despite updated Zotero and Firefox

Few months ago I had no problems at all in saving Pubmed citations in my Zotero account. After klicking the until then always functioning "save to Zotero" button of the browser, a message popped up that there is a problem in saving. I updated Zotero incl. its connector and Firefox, deleted files and emptied the trash bins after the sign "x" popped up, telling me that storage is full. Despite all these measures the error message occurred again and I am quite helpless and would appreciate help in this matter very much.
