Responding with Yes or No to modifications of notes?

Zotero asked my by an upcoming notification if I wanted to keep my modifications on notes from updating. I answered yes. I got a lot of these notifications and answered yes. But now I see that two of my modified notes are as underneath - all words underlined separately: [see link]

This is not what I want, how can I redress this and probably for a lot more of my notes? I think I should have responded by "no" with hindsight. Ane Mulder - the Netherlands
  • What is more to it, Zotero does not connect this to the previous note in abbreviating it. So it makes an entirely new note:
    Beaumont, Christology in Dialogue, 163, 168, 166; 170–71; 169; 192–93.
If any one can help, I appreciate it.

  • If you put your cursor into the note and click on "Add/Edit Note" you should be able to remake your decision on modifying notes (what happened in your case is that these are notes that are modified but also created with automatic updates disabled, which is an unfortunate combination).
  • Thanks Adam, I tried it and see the comment underneath:

Hope you know a way forward? Ane Mulder
  • By the way; how do I undo automatic updates disabled? Ane Mulder
  • I did not find this possibility in (advanced) settings ? Ane Mulder
  • Adam Smith can you or somebody else please help me with the above two questions? I am just stuck in my work now. How can I undo keeping my modifications in Zotero, and how can I able automatic updates in Zotero? Ane Mulder
  • In the Zotero tab in Word under "Document preferences" tick the box to update citations. Then they'll automatically refresh again.
  • Thanks D. this is a solution but not to my problem of undo keeping your modifications in notes. So, the challenge of my 2 questions remains.
  • Is the above screenshot the first thing you get when clicking Add/Edit Note?

The expectation is that you'd get something like this:
    https://s3.amazonaws.com/zotero.org/images/forums/u2433/pzjkz9lilzeiki5lfbg9.png

If you then click "Continue" and simply OK the next dialog, that should undo your manual modification.
  • Now it becomes complicated. Yes this is what I get today. But yesterday I modified notes in need of changes manually in the chapter. This is what note 38 should be and looks now:

38 Mark Beaumont, Christology in Dialogue with Muslims, 174–75; 177–80; 186–87.

When I press okay, the dialogue box of Zotero appears for making a new note. And when I select the book of Beaumont again with the appropriate page numbers, the text of note 38 disappears and the number 1 for a new note appears after the 38 without note content [38 1]?

Maybe we should leave it here or do you think otherwise? Ane Mulder
  • Having a bit of a hard time following, it'd be helpful to have screenshots of every step, but you might be fast just fixing the rest manually -- depends on how much stuff you have to manually adjust. If these are just a couple of notes, you might be best served by manually deleting and re-inserting them.
