Using [$ ... $]

Hi

When using the editor in notes, I occasionally use square brackets and $-signs to highlight my private comments:

[$ my personal comment $]

Now, I observe, that this text is automatically converted to italics and it is rendered clickable:

Is there any explanation for this behavior, and should I restrain from using this private markdown?

Dollar signs specifically trigger Latex math mode, so I wouldn't use them

A good syntax to use would be HTML comment syntax <!-- My comment -->
