To what extent does Zotero use Java?

My university tells me that I should not have anything Oracle-Jave such as JRE installed on my computer, due to potential licence infringements.

I would like to know to what extent Zotero possibly does silent installations of Java, or components thereof. I am asking because I do find some .js files in Zotero's storage which (as far as I know) are related to Java.

Thank you!

Zorero only uses Java for the LibreOffice integration. (and requires a working Java environment for that, but will.absolutley not install it,. neither noisily nor silently). No other part of Zotero contains a an Java at all.

It is written almost entirely in JavaScript, which, in spite of the name, has absolutely nothing to do with Java.

.js files are JavaScript files, but also, storage doesn't contain Zorero code. It contains files and webpages you saved (the .js files are likely from older Snapshots).
  • Thank you very much, @adamsmith , for your quick answer.

As you can tell from my question, I don't know much about software, so I feel greatly reassured by your reply. Thanks again.
