It always flashes back, and the screen is black when you enter.

Hey @wootly, does this happen for a specific document? If so, can you mail it to support@zotero.org and mention this thread? If this happens when you launch the app, you can tap and hold the app icon in the springboard, and select the My Library action, in order to launch the app without opening the offending document.
