A way to search for an article within your collection faster [Windows]
Hi all,
I would like to share one of the tools that I have been using in conjunction with Zotero. As we all know, Zotero stores it's PDFs in folders named randomly. Assuming you use Zotero's naming function to name PDFs according to their creator, year and the title, to access a particular PDF which you know one of the 3 components, you can either:
1. Use windows search (Slow)
2. Use Zotero's built in search (Can be slow >3s if you have a huge collection)
I have a moderately large collection (approx 3k articles) and searching using the above methods take way longer than I would like.
I currently use Everything available from http://www.voidtools.com/ . This in effect uses the NTFS file index for search instead of recursively going through the file paths. The result: lightning fast search not only for your PDFs.
I have been using the 2 (Zotero and Everything) together for quite a while and thought to share this with the community.
