Feature Suggestions for Zotero on iPad
Dear Zotero Team,
Thank you so much for the incredible work you’ve done over the years. Zotero has been an essential tool in my academic life, and I truly appreciate the dedication and thoughtfulness behind its development.
I’m writing to suggest a few features that I believe would greatly enhance the experience on the iPad version:
1. Apple Pencil Enhancements: It would be fantastic if the app could support long-press gestures when using the Apple Pencil—for example, for quick access to annotation tools or settings.
2. Smart Handwriting Correction: When writing with the Pencil, it would be helpful if handwritten annotations could be automatically recognized and corrected, similar to handwriting-to-text features in other apps.
3. Flexible Highlighting: Currently, the highlight function seems limited to OCR-recognized text. I would love to be able to highlight freely anywhere on the page, including non-OCR text or images—just like drawing with a highlighter on paper.
4. Toolbar Positioning: It would be great to have the option to move the annotation toolbar to the top of the screen instead of the bottom, especially when using the iPad in landscape mode. This would help avoid interference with handwriting and make the interface more efficient.
Thank you again for everything you've done to make Zotero such a powerful and accessible tool. I’m excited to see how the iPad version continues to evolve!
