Escape key should close subwindows

It would be convenient if Zotero's sub-windows could be closed simply by pressing the Esc key. A typical example of such sub-windows is the settings window (Edit → Settings).

In fact, some of them, but perhaps not those directly provided by Zotero, can be closed using the Esc key, for example those that allow the user to select a file (e.g., Edit → Settings → Advanced → Files and Folders → Choose...).
  • The things you're able to close with the Escape key are dialogs (modal prompts with buttons that cancel/confirm an action), not full windows. No platform I know of allows closing windows with the Escape key. But you should be able to close all Zotero windows with Ctrl-W.
  • I wasn't aware of this distinction between dialogs and full windows: thanks! But shouldn't the Edit → Settings one be a dialog?

    About Ctrl-W, it doesn't work here (GNU/Linux Mageia 9, KDE/Plasma) but I can resort the old good Alt-F4 :)
  • Would the "find" menu/dialog count? In other apps I usually close the find window/menu/dialog with the Esc key. I usually use Zotero in full screen mode and pressing Esc with the find window open, instead of closing the find window, Zotero exits full screen mode.
  • Denis: No, Settings is a regular window, not a dialog.

@edervishaj: Which find window/dialog, exactly, and which OS? On macOS, with Zotero in full-screen mode, Esc closes the Find panel in the reader, and a second Esc is needed to exit full-screen mode. In the note editor, Esc does exit full-screen mode in addition to closing the Find toolbar. We'll see if we can fix that.
