Request: translator for HGNC
Zotero connector offers to save an HGNC URL as a web page, for example https://www.genenames.org/data/gene-symbol-report/#!/hgnc_id/HGNC:3796.
However, it should be cited as a database:https://www.genenames.org/help/faq/#!/#tocAnchor-1-1-7

AbeJellinekWe wouldn’t normally write a translator that just produces a generic citation for the website as a whole. Is there guidance on how to cite individual entries?

adamsmithedited 4 days agoI'd generally ignore recommended citations except as a reference for official names. E.g., it'd be entirely out of place to cite a post code in most citation styles.

iagogv@AbeJellinek I know what I linked. Ok, but it would be better to save a generic but right item than just a webpage without any relevant data.

AbeJellinekedited 4 days agoWhat you linked isn’t what we’d need to develop a translator for this site. I asked if you had any other resources. If you don’t, say you don’t. Being rude and demanding won’t get you anywhere.

iagogvExcuse, it was not my intention to be rude. I answered ok, just commenting (not demanding) about the functionality.
