Does native Zotero integration on Boox supports WebDAV sync?

[Split from Available for beta testing: Zotero for Android]

PhD student here, been using Zotero for years and now i'm considering an eink tablet because i hate reading papers on LCD screens but can't possibly print everything i'm supposed to read. I've been considering a Boox tablet now that they have native Zotero integration.

However I couldn't get a clear picture (reading through other comments here) of whether the native Zotero integration on Boox supports WebDAV sync. I use Koofr's webDAV service to sync all the files in my library so without that it's a deal breaker for me.

Would anyone know whether the Boox zotero app/integration allows for WebDAV sync?

Thanks -- and apologies if this was answered before and I missed it!

Hope not too late. I brought a Boox Notex5 device and find there's no native webdav sync. I'm also trying to find a best way to sync all my papers and books.
  • The Zotero android app supports webDAV and works with Boox devices
  • Hi adamsmith, I tried it, but tbh it seems that the current Zotero app does not support opening PDFs from third-party software. As you know, its user experience is much worse than the official PDF reader of Boox.
I am trying several new methods, such as creating a group and dragging the PDF file to be read into the group every time to use Zotero official sync, or using some third-party app. I have found that a app called Zotpaper can easily download attachments to files in the Zotero library through webdav, but whether it can do a good job of annotating and returning them is still to be tested. My test results are negative, maybe I made a mistake somewhere.
  • The most consistent solution I got so far throughout my 4 years journey with Boox devices and Zotero is Zoo for Zotero. It works with WebDav and it has an option to sync to external cache or a location, which means you can use native NeoReader app for reading and annotating. Downloading and re-uploading attachments right after you are finished with them is the most consistent way workflow in my experience, but you have the option to download attachments and re-upload whenever necessary. This method might involve some force re-uploads which works fine most of the time. I only had one PDF that is not re-uploading despite of whatever I do, so I copied it to my computer and bypassed the issue.
