broken file, have tried all suggestions in documentation, now what?

I have switched endnote which is so buggy, and now having trouble with zotero. Is there a full proof way of cleaning a document to start again. I even saved in RTF (I am on MS Word. the problem may be I am trying to do a multiple citation. any suggestions.

Saving in RTF will break all the citations, and isn't recommended anywhere, so certainly don't do that.

What's the actual problem that you're experiencing?

If you're getting an error, you'll need to follow the steps on Troubleshooting Errors in Word Processor Documents. As it says, unless you can completely clear the document contents (in a copy of the file) and still get the error, the last step will by definition isolate the problem.
