Zotero extension grayed out

I have installed and reinstalled Zotero Connector for Chrome a few times and each time, it says that Zotero is running (I used a link I saw in an old forum) and the manage extensions indicates that Zotero is running. However, when I try and click on Zotero from the article I want to add on Chrome, the Zotero extension is greyed out. Any ideas on how to fix this?
