Zotero Connector: saving items doesn't work

When I try to save an item via the Zotero connector in Safari, it always says, "An error occurred while saving this item. Try again, and if the issue persists, see Getting Help for more information." I have the latest version of Zotero and have checked that the Connector is enabled as a Safari extension. Can someone help me solve this issue, please?
