When I click highlight and underline, it doesn't work. Other annotation functions are normal. The version used on the mac is 7.0.15, and the latest version downloaded from the app store on the ipad.
I checked all document types and found that this problem only occurs with scanned documents, and other documents are normal.

In addition, I wanted to upload the screen recording, but found that the forum can only upload 10MB gifs, so it took some time to reply to you in time.
If the documents are scanned without OCR, then it's just pages of images for Zotero, there are no characters to be selected for highlighting/underlining. Other readers may perform OCR on the fly to allow you to select characters, to some extend, but it's not a feature we have currently.

Maybe you can share a video of the exact issue you have?
macOS Sequoia 15.4, downloaded Zotero 7.0.15 from the website.
The above two application-side issues exist.
No matter iPad or Mac, the underline and highlight functions do not work.
