Bibliography will not generate in my document

I am using Word on a Macbook. Zotero is letting me add citations from the app, but as soon as I go to generate the bibliography at the end of my document it says "Zotero experienced an error updating your document." I have tried opening an entirely new document and tested adding random citations to the document and trying to generate the bibliography but the same thing happens every time. Does anyone know why this might be happening?
