Attachments cannot be downloaded

Hello,

we run a public library https://www.zotero.org/ag_fe/library

In this library we do have a lot of attachments, that we want to make available to the public. But while so far members of our associations with their own accounts can see that atttachments are stored, the cannot access or download them.

I would be gratefull for any hint, how I can change that.

Thanks, Regine

You're at your file storage quota, so additional files aren't being uploaded. Zotero would be showing a warning icon about this in the Zotero toolbar on every sync from a computer where new files have been added.

All the files in that library that have been uploaded would be accessible to members in the web library (when logged in) or in the desktop app. Public file sharing isn't supported.
  • thanks for the anwer, dstillman, I have extended our storage. It still does not work, though. And I will get back soon, with yet another problem that has arisen.
  • You have to sync the computer where the files were added after upgrading storage. See Files Not Syncing.
  • Hi, I have done the syncing.

Attached I am sending two screenshots

"Ich teste" - is the test account I have created as a "user"
"Arbeitsgemeinschaft" - is the account I am using as an admin

there are two issues. In the highlighted article the attachment does not show up in the user account in the "attachment column" . And it cannot be downloaded.

in the admin accout the attachment is both visible in the column. And the "download" button shows up in the attachment box.

I hope you can help. thanks

  • Those are separate, unrelated libraries. The library shown in the second one isn't owned by the first account and wouldn't use its storage subscription.
  • Sorry but I do not get it. We want to make our library (Arbeitsgemeinschaft) available via Zotero. We thought that by making it public people like out members but also external people who are interested in the topic (e.g. IchTeste) can research the library and can download the files that we make publicly available.
If it does not work this way, how could it work to our purpose and the benefit of others?
    Best regards, Regine
  • As dstillman says in his first post:
    Public file sharing isn't supported.
Only group members have access to files in a public group. External users can access the metadata but not download files (Zotero doesn't want to be in the business of processing take down requests for copyrighted materials)
  • Oh, I see, that's the personal library for the account you're posting from that you've made public — it's not a group library. But yeah, you still can't share files publicly.
