How can I change in-text citation delimiters from parentheses to square brackets in Zotero?

I'm submitting a manuscript to a journal that requires numbered in-text citations using square brackets (e.g., [1], [2]) instead of parentheses (e.g., (1), (2)). I'm currently using Zotero with Word, and the vancouvert style I'm using inserts citations with parentheses.
How can I change the citation format to use square brackets instead?

Can you tell us the name of the journal and give a link to the author guidelines? That way we can help faster and more specific. :)

Otherwise, we have Vancouver bracket versions on the style repository, of course.
