Zotero not downloading citations

Hi - I've checked my chrome extension and have uninstalled and re-installed zotero, but it's till not working. When I click on download citation in a paper, a brief window pops up in Zotero "Saving to - with one of my collections identified". But it doesn't then save.

My system was recently upgraded to Windows 11 by my employer. I'm not sure if the problem pre-dates this upgrade or not, but it may be relevant.

We always need an example URL for problems with saving. If you're having trouble saving across many sites, see Troubleshooting Problems Saving to Zotero.

(And to be clear, by "downloading citations" you mean clicking the Zotero Connector's Save to Zotero button in your browser toolbar?)
  • Hi

    Thanks for your quick response

I've tried to us the Download Citation option for this paper, using the option in the paper. It is happening across multiple sites.

I used to be able to download this way and haven't done it via clicking in the browser tool bar.

The way you save to Zotero is by using the Save to Zotero button.

    https://www.zotero.org/support/adding_items_to_zotero#via_your_web_browser

Automatic import of citation metadata files (RIS/BibTeX/EndNote) is a feature that previously existed in the Zotero Connector that we had to remove due to technical changes in Chrome — it shouldn't have worked for the last year or so. It recently became possible to support it again, and as of about a week ago it should be working again on some sites. It doesn't appear to be working on T&F, and we'll look into why, but that's never been the standard way of saving to Zotero and isn't what you want to use on supported sites.
