Cooperation with generative AI: proofreading of text with citations in MS Word

edited 9 days ago
I use GenAI for proofreading and revising text, which means I need to copy a block of text from my draft (which presumably includes citations) into, say ChatGPT conversation and copy back updated text. With Markdown, ChatGPT preserves the standard textual links ([text][link] and [text](link)). It would be nice if Zotero was more cooperative as well. Ideally, this means being able to have a third mode for link insertion based on text, e.g., [1]({arXiv-ID})/[2][{DOI-ID}]/[5]({Zotero-ID}).

A related question, it would be nice to have a VBA API for insertion of references by arXivID/doiID/ZoteroID, probably by extending the current basic API used to invoke the GUI dialog.
