Reporting/ Exporting/ Web graphical output using FreeMind

I am not the typical user of Zotero. I am using it as a tool in collaborative research, and it has great potential.

But in collaboration, a good portion of users are not tool-literate: they participate and want to comment, but the heavy lifting gets done by others (like me). To that end I need to be able to improve on Zotero's ability to present information, (among other things). To wit:

If you want Zotero data to show up in a Mind Map UI layout, here is a work-around:
(this uses the flash plugin to FreeMind)
- select items to report on
- right-click Generate a report
- it displays in your current browser window
- Copy/Paste this into an editor (such as notepad++) to tweak indents
- the idea is to un-indent the document titles.
- e.g. switch to UNIX format (edit/EOL conversion/ Unix)
- delete blank lines (TextFX/Edit/Delete lines)
- global replace the line above the title (*) through the start of the title with null
- Copy/Paste contents into FreeMind
- Freemind Export/ As Flash
- put it on a website somewhere.
-Example:

(This is straight through with no stops for pretty fonts, icons, etc)
Don't ask how long it took me to figure this out.

feature request: a translator to do this automatically :)

  • I'm not sure I understand all that you're saying (and I have no clue about mind mapping software), but from what I think I understand, the tools that Kieren has put together may facilitate things for you:

  • thank you - I had come across this but ran into the browser version issue. I will dive in and see if I ever surface :)
