Zotero showns problems when working with .DOCX google drive

Zotero shows problems when working with .DOCX documents in google drive. How do I improve the performance on it?.

Especially when working with multiple colleagues.
  • Just had this same problem. We solved it by importing the DOCX into a Google Doc, and doing the bibliography work with Zotero as a Google Doc. Then export as a DOCX.
  • The Zotero Google Docs plugin requires documents be stored as Google Doc format. If you need to edit later in Word as docx, use the “Switch Word Processors” option from the Zotero menu in Google Docs.

    The plugin functionality is supposed to be disabled when opening a .docx from Drive directly in Docs. It's possible that stopped happening after a Google Docs UI change. We'll look into that.

    But yes, the fix here would be to import the file properly into Google Docs. If the file already has Zotero citations, see Moving Documents with Zotero Citations Between Word Processors.
