Bug?? - When I choose search "Everything" of a categorical sub-collection - it doesn't

When I set search for "Everything", I don't get results that I know I should from sub-collection searches. This only seems to work if the folder itself contains items or I search at the highest level with "My Library" selected. It doesn't appear to search all folders recursively unless items are contained within it that are not sub folders.

Scenario: I may not want everything returned from "My Library" but just search a sub-collection of folders and their related items. I also don't want to have to filter every folder in a sub-collection.

For example:
My Library
--Theology <--- won't search within here
-----Biblical
-----Historical
-----Modern
--Hermeneutics <--- won't search within here
-----Language
-----Semantics
-----Interpretation
-----

Search from "My Library" set to "Everything"

Do you have show items in subcollections selected under View? Quick search is meant to serve as a filter of the current view
