Updating/changing multiple info/metadata fields at once

I have multiple library items that all come from the same publication, but are individual articles (no DOI). I would like to update all of their metadata to reflect the title of the larger publication, editors, date, etc. I would also like to change them all to "report" because they were read in as "article" (most of them). In addition, some of them are "plates" or "maps" or other appendices, so they will have different item types. I don't want to put them under the same parent item because I want them to have their own citations as they have their own authors and titles.

I have looked long and hard and there seems to be no solution so I guess this is a feature request? Unless anyone has a workaround.
